Effect verification of red rust turning into black rust.
Due to significant concerns about the corrosion of the hot spring water piping in this facility, an "NMR Pipe Protector" was installed as a countermeasure when the building was 38 years old. Analysis results of the amount of black rust after installation have demonstrated that the "NMR Pipe Protector" effectively prevents the progression of red rust and promotes the formation of black rust. The amount of black rust before installation was 0.9%, but it increased to 16.9% after 6 months of actual operation, proving the reduction of red rust to black rust. In the future, if all the red rust in this piping turns into black rust, piping replacement will not be necessary as long as external corrosion does not occur.
